Univeristy of Lodz first among Polish universities!!
The second edition of the GreenMetric ranking: University of Lodz scored first among Polish universities!
In the freshly announced global environmental ranking of universities, made by the University of Indonesia (http://greenmetric.ui.ac.id), University of Lodz took 91st place on the list of 178 schools.
The school has gained 5279 points in the assessment of the organizers. The first place in the ranking was awarded to the University of Nottingham. Poland was also represented by Cracow University of Technology, ranked 171st. University of Lodz was evaluated for the first time. Criteria taken into account included the university’s research and teaching – related activities devoted to environmental protection and sustainable development. Among others, points were awarded for the number of courses of study related to environmental protection and sustainable development, funding for research, publications, scientific events. The number of student organizations was also a factor. Schools also scored high for their direct actions aimed at protecting the environment – saving energy, water, reduced use of paper and plastic, waste management, built-up area and green spaces.
Let us recall that this April, the University of Lodz created a new position of Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Sustainable Transport. It is held by Dr. Mariusz Sokołowicz of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology, and his activity is supported by the Student Scientific Circle on Sustainable Transport.
